This is where I’m at. Pink pussyhat galore, if you will. I just won’t be joining you in head fashion. Here’s where my head’s at:
I love marches. I love community organizing. I not only believe it’s been proven essential in making meaningful, systemic change, but also, I love it. It makes me feel all deliciously fiery inside, but well beyond the “me” in it, it is just so obviously necessary.
Today, women are marching and I’m one of them. I’ll be sporting my favorite hat just in case my head gets cold.
Like many others, I think sporting the pink pussyhat not only excludes an array of perfectly non-pink pussy colors, but also excludes transgender and non binary women.
As if that isn’t enough, the “in your face” pink pussy hat, in my opinion, takes away from the weight of all systemic change that needs to happen for ALL women and humankind.
Please note, I think the pink pussyhat is absolutely adorable and as a gigantic fan of hats, I’d wear it because it’s so freakin’ cute. Still, today, I will not wear a pink pussyhat. I will come with my core beliefs, my resolve and tenacity as we all will.
I pray that no prop, hat, pussy or any other genitalia, will take away from the clarity and importance of the crucial progress that must be made for ALL women, pink pussies or otherwise.
Stay strong and stay safe.
I love you, with all of the hats you wear each day, no matter the color, the shape, the size, etc.
Let’s go be authentic and get done what NEEDS to be done.
